None of this means connectivity is worthless. Remote monitoring is genuinely useful if you travel a lot or manage a rental property. It's also accessible if you need remote controls over physical buttons on the device. But it still means the premium isn't buying you cleaner air.
Where Automatic Sensing Genuinely Helps, and Where It Falls Short
Automatic sensing is useful during a pollution spike you didn't see coming, like wildfire smoke or a burst of pollen when a window was left open. In that scenario, a sensor-driven purifier ramps up faster than you would have thought to adjust it manually.
It falls short as a full-time strategy. A purifier in "auto" mode is, by design, running slower most of the time and only escalating after particle counts have already risen enough to trigger it. Indoor pollutant levels don't stay flat because dust, dander, and off-gassing from furniture and cleaning products accumulate continuously, and an idling purifier isn't clearing that pollution.
