Almost no home air purifiers are made in the United States. Our AirMend™ and TrueCarbon™ purifiers are designed, engineered, and assembled at our facility in Radford, Virginia. Under FTC rules we describe them as assembled in USA rather than made in USA, because some components are sourced overseas. Our Mod series is designed and engineered here and assembled in China. I would rather tell you that up front than have you find it out later.
If you are on this page, you have probably already worked out that country-of-origin claims can be confusing and messy. Brands say American company, American designed, American owned, proudly American, and none of those phrases actually mean the product was built here.

Why So Few Air Purifiers Are Made in America
The honest answer is that it is hard and it costs more.
An air purifier is a motor, a fan, a housing unit, a filter, and control electronics. Consumer electronics manufacturing consolidated in Asia decades ago, and the supply chain for small motors and injection-molded plastics went with it. Setting up domestic assembly means building tooling, hiring, and training a workforce, holding inventory, and accepting a unit cost that a contract factory overseas will always beat.
Most brands look at that math and decide the label is not worth the cost margin. It also means that when you see a purifier at a price that looks too good, the manufacturing location is usually part of the explanation.
We went the other way, and I will not pretend it was purely idealism. Having engineering, assembly, and customer service in one building means we find problems faster and fix them faster. When a motor design needs a revision, the person who designed it can walk to the line. That feedback loop and quality control are worth the cost difference to us.
What the Labels Actually Mean
The Federal Trade Commission regulates country-of-origin claims, and the distinctions are narrower than most shoppers realize.

The reason this matters commercially is that the first two claims are the only ones about manufacturing, and the last two are the ones you see most often. When a brand uses the softer phrasing, it means they do not meet the requirements to make the stronger claims of being made or assembled in the USA.

If domestic assembly is the reason you are shopping, the AirMend and TrueCarbon lines are the ones to look at. The Mod air purifiers are efficient purifiers that offer both HEPA and carbon filtration, but it is built overseas, and I am not going to imply otherwise.
Even on the models assembled in Radford, some components are sourced internationally. That is why the claim is "assembled in USA" and not "made in USA." Anyone selling you a consumer air purifier assembled with entirely domestic materials would be charging considerably more than we do.
What Domestic Assembly Gets You
Country of origin is a values question for a lot of people, and that is a good enough reason on its own. There are also four practical differences to Oransi's assembled in USA products worth knowing.
Engineering and assembly in the same building
Our engineers work where the units are built. A design change gets validated on the line the same week rather than over a series of emails and a twelve-hour time difference. This shows up as fewer defects and faster revisions over a product's life.
The motor is ours
The motor is the most expensive component in an air purifier and the one most likely to fail. We design our brushless DC motors in-house rather than buying a generic unit off a catalog, which is what lets us tune airflow against noise and power draw instead of accepting whatever a supplier offers.

How to Check Any Manufacturer's Claim
Ask these four questions. They work on any manufacturer, including us.
- Where does final assembly happen? Ask for a city, not a country and not a marketing phrase. A company that assembles domestically will answer immediately.
- Where is the motor from? It is the most expensive part. If nobody can tell you, the answer is a catalog motor from a contract supplier.
- Which exact claim is on the box? "Made in USA," "Assembled in USA," and "Designed in USA" are three different statements with three different legal thresholds. Read the label rather than the homepage.
- Where is customer service located? Support in the same country as manufacturing usually means warranty work and replacement parts move faster.
