| Your purifier | Filter you need | Typical life |
|---|---|---|
| AirMend™ 150HB, 200HB, 270HB | AirMend HEPA filter, plus optional pre-filter | 12 months |
| TrueCarbon™ 150C, 200C, 270C | TrueCarbon carbon filter | 12 months |
| Mod Jr. (blue handle) | Mod Jr. 3-in-1 filter | 12 months |
| Mod (orange handle) and Mod+ (gray handle) | Mod / Mod+ 3-in-1 filter | 12 months |
The AirMend pre-filter does not fit alongside the TrueCarbon filter. If you run a TrueCarbon unit, order the carbon filter on its own.
We promise filters for the life of the product. If your purifier still runs, we still stock the filter.
| Your purifier | Filter you need | Typical life |
|---|---|---|
| Erik 650A | HEPA filter for Erik 650A, plus the combination pre-filter (PRE-ERIK) | Pre-filter 12 months |
| Erik Ultra / Ultra Plus | Erik Ultra Series main filter | Varies with use |
| Erik Multi-Carbon | Erik V-Bank carbon filter, 14 lbs of activated carbon | 2 years |
| Finn | Finn filter pack (3 carbon pre-filters plus one high-efficiency filter). UV lamp sold separately. | Filters 12 months, UV lamp 8 to 12 months |
| Max | Max filter pack, or the pre-filter on its own | 12 months |
| EJ120 | EJ HEPA filter plus one carbon option: GAC carbon or pleated carbon | 12 months |
| OV200 | OV200 filter set (RF200) | 6 to 9 months |
| v-HEPA and v-HEPA Plus | v-HEPA filter (RF2311) | Varies with use |
| v-HEPA Pro UV | Pro UV filter (RF201) | Varies with use |
The EJ120 has room for the HEPA filter and one of the two carbon options. Granular activated carbon handles a wider spectrum of gases. The pleated carbon filter restricts airflow less. Pick based on whether odor removal or airflow matters more in your space.
Most Oransi filters run 12 months in normal household use. That number moves with how hard the purifier works.
Replace sooner if you have pets, if anyone smokes indoors, if you run the purifier through wildfire season, if the unit sits in a workshop or a room under renovation, or if you run it on high speed most of the time. Replace on schedule or slightly later if the purifier runs a few hours a day in a clean, closed bedroom.
No. A HEPA filter is a dense mat of fine fibers arranged in a precise structure. Washing it collapses that structure and leaves gaps that particles pass straight through. Vacuuming a HEPA filter pulls fibers loose and does the same thing. Once the media is damaged the filter still fits, still lets air through, and no longer filters properly, which is worse than a clogged filter because there is nothing to warn you.
Pre-filters are different. Most Oransi pre-filters are designed to be cleaned. The Max pre-filter should be vacuumed lightly and never washed. The mesh pre-filter on the Mod series can be vacuumed or wiped with a cloth. The v-HEPA filter includes a washable pre-filter.
If a product listing does not say a filter is cleanable, treat it as disposable.
Third-party filters for our purifiers exist and they are usually cheaper. Three things worth knowing before you buy one.
Fit determines performance. Air takes the easiest path available. A filter that is close but not exact leaves a gap at the edge, and unfiltered air goes around the media instead of through it. The purifier sounds normal and cleans far less than its rating.
Media grade is invisible from outside. Two filters can look identical and use different media. Our AHAM Verified CADR ratings are measured with our filters installed. Change the filter and the rating no longer describes what the machine does.
Carbon quantity is where corners get cut first. Carbon is the expensive part. A copy of a carbon filter that carries a fraction of the carbon looks the same in the box and stops controlling odor months earlier.
Every filter on this page is made to the specification the purifier was engineered and tested against.
Most of our filters can be set to ship automatically every 6, 9, or 12 months, at 10% off. Filters are easy to forget, and a forgotten filter is the most common reason a purifier stops performing. You can pause, skip, delay, or cancel at any time.
Free shipping in the US on all filters, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Orders placed by 12pm Eastern, Monday to Friday, usually ship the same day.
Most Oransi filters last about 12 months in normal household use. The OV200 filter set runs 6 to 9 months, and the Erik V-Bank carbon filter runs about 2 years. Replace sooner if you have pets, smoke indoors, run the purifier on high most of the time, or use it through wildfire season.
No. Washing collapses the fiber structure and vacuuming pulls fibers loose. Either one leaves gaps that particles pass through, and the filter gives you no sign it has stopped working. Pre-filters are the exception and most are designed to be cleaned. Check the product listing for your specific filter.
Use the tables above to match your purifier model to its filter. Model names are printed on the unit, and the Mod series is identified by handle color: orange for Mod, gray for Mod+, blue for Mod Jr. If you are unsure, call 888-281-3948 or email cs@oransi.com and we will identify it.
Yes. We support retired purifiers with replacement filters for the life of the product. That covers the Erik series, Finn, Max, EJ120, OV200, and the v-HEPA line.
A loaded HEPA filter restricts airflow, so the purifier moves less clean air per hour and effectively covers a smaller room than its rating. A saturated carbon filter stops removing odors and can release some of what it captured back into the room when conditions change. Neither failure is obvious from looking at the machine.
It may fit, and fit is not the same as performing. Air takes the easiest path, so a small gap at the edge of a filter lets air bypass the media entirely. Our published CADR ratings are measured with our filters installed, so a substitute filter means the rating no longer describes what the machine actually does.
No. Carbon works by adsorption, meaning gas molecules stick to the surface inside its pores. Once those pores are full the filter is finished, and there is no household method to clear them. Unlike a HEPA filter it gives no visual warning, so use the return of an odor as your replacement signal.
It depends on the model and how hard the purifier works, and it is worth calculating before you buy any air purifier rather than after. We break down the full multi-year cost of ownership across our line in our guide to lifetime air purifier and filter costs.
