The Best Air Purifiers For Allergies 2026
Five HEPA air purifiers, rated by AHAM Verified CADR for the allergens that actually cause symptoms: pollen, dust, pet dander, and mold spores. Every model is certified, uses a high efficiency filter, and runs on a motor designed to deliver high airflow at low noise levels. The AirMend series is designed and assembled in Radford, Virginia.

What Matters in an Allergy Air Purifier
Most air purifier marketing focuses on the filter. The filter is necessary, but it's not the whole picture. What separates a purifier that reduces symptoms from one that doesn't is how much clean air it actually delivers per minute, and how quietly it can sustain that airflow over the hours you'll run it. Three specifications tell you what you need to know.
CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is the single most useful number on the box. AHAM independently tests purifiers and publishes their CADR for three particle types: pollen, dust, and smoke. The smoke CADR is the most demanding of the three (smoke particles are the smallest), which is why it's the number we publish across our entire line — if a purifier hits its smoke CADR target, it will comfortably handle pollen and dust. To size a purifier to your room, multiply the square footage by 2/3. That's the minimum CADR you need to clean the air five times an hour, which is the threshold most allergists recommend. A 300 sq ft bedroom needs CADR ≥ 200.
High Efficiency filtration captures the smaller particles (PM2.5). That covers every common allergen — pollen grains, dust mite debris, pet dander, mold spores, and the carrier particles that hold allergenic proteins. Any HEPA filter from a reputable manufacturer will do this. What varies between brands is how much air the unit can actually push through the filter without becoming loud enough that you turn it off at night.
Noise at usable speeds is where most purifiers fail their owners. A unit that's quiet on its lowest setting but only moves enough air to clean a closet isn't doing the job. A unit that hits its rated CADR only on a setting you can't tolerate after 8 p.m. doesn't get used. The honest way to evaluate noise is to look at the dB rating across the full speed range — which is why we publish low-to-high noise figures for every model.
Activated carbon is a separate question. Carbon filters target gases, odors, and VOCs, not the particle allergens that drive most allergy symptoms. If pet odors, cooking smells, or off-gassing from new furniture are also concerns, look at our HEPA + carbon models (Mod Jr. and Mod+) or pair a HEPA unit with a TrueCarbon series purifier.

Oransi air purifiers target common allergy triggers like pollen and dust.
Seasonal allergies cause many unwanted symptoms. These include sneezing, watery eyes, headaches, itchy throat, and cough. Using an air purifier with HEPA filters can clean up airborne allergens. It's a proven way to reduce allergy symptoms.
Outdoor allergens invade interior spaces. So, cleaning indoor air is key to preventing allergies.
These symptoms can be worse depending on the season, like with pollen in the spring and ragweed in the fall. An air purifier is a must for anyone with seasonal allergies.

Why Oransi
Oransi has been making air purifiers since 2009. We design and engineer our products in Radford, Virginia, and our customer service team works from the same building as the engineers — not a contracted call center. That matters when something goes wrong, when you need help sizing a unit to a specific room, or when you want a straight answer about filter life or noise levels.
The other thing that matters is the motor. The motor is the single most expensive and most failure-prone component in any air purifier. Oransi uses a proprietary, energy-efficient motor designed in-house — the same architecture that allows our AirMend series to deliver high CADR ratings at lower noise levels than is typical for purifiers in its size class.
Every model on this page is AHAM Verified for Clean Air Delivery Rate, certified and backed by no-hassle returns and warranty support. The AirMend 150HB, 200HB, and 270HB are featured in NYT Wirecutter. The Mod+ has been featured in NYT Wirecutter, CNET and appeared in the PBS American Masters: Dr. Fauci documentary.
If you're not sure which model fits your room, call us at 888-281-3948 or email cs@oransi.com — we'll help you size it.
Allergy Air Purifier FAQs
Filter life is 12 months for normal use across our entire line. AirMend filters can last longer with lighter use; the Mod Jr. and Mod+ use a combination high efficiency pleated HEPA material + activated carbon filter designed for a 12-month replacement cycle. Every purifier has a filter indicator light that tells you when to check it. Replacement filters are available on our filters page, with prices and replacement instructions on each product page.
All Oransi purifiers are designed to run quietly enough for bedroom use on their lower settings. Specific dB ranges are published on every product page and in the comparison table above. The AirMend series runs from 30 dBA (whisper) to 60–62 dBA (dishwasher) across 7 fan speeds. The Mod Jr. and Mod+ are quieter on the low end (23 dBA and 20 dBA respectively) and offer 12 fan speeds for finer control. All models go dark at night so the LEDs won't disturb sleep.
Multiply your room's square footage by 2/3. That number is the minimum CADR you need to clean the air about five times per hour, which is the threshold most allergists recommend for allergy sufferers. A 300 sq ft room needs CADR ≥ 200; a 600 sq ft room needs CADR ≥ 400. If your purifier's CADR is significantly below this number, you'll need to run it at its highest setting to keep up — which usually means it's too loud to use overnight. Sizing up by one model is almost always worth it.
Yes! Air purifiers with HEPA actually help with allergies. HEPA air purifiers filter out common airborne allergy triggers. These triggers include pollen, dust, and pet dander.
A HEPA air purifier is the best air purifier for cat allergies when pet dander is your main concern. If your main concern is kitty litter boxes or other pet odors, look at our TrueCarbon series. It targets heavy odors.
The first step is to determine the type of air cleaner you need.
Start with what's causing your allergies. In most cases, it will be a particle like pollen or dust. For particles, you need a HEPA air purifier.
If you are allergic to VOCs or other chemicals, then you need carbon purification. Activated carbon filters, like Oransi's TrueCarbon series, are effective for odors or VOCs.
The second step is to choose a model that will clean your area. Air purifiers have a CADR rating. This lets you know the room size the air purifier can clean. To determine the CADR for your space, take the square footage times 2/3. The result is the CADR that's needed to clean the room.
The easiest way to remove dust and allergens from the air is to run a HEPA air purifier. Oransi offers many HEPA options, including our AirMend series and Mod series.
A HEPA targets airborne particles. It removes most of them from your air before you can inhale them.
Yes! It doesn't matter if you have ragweed allergies in the fall. Or dust mite allergies in the winter. Or pollen allergies in the spring. A HEPA filter will filter it all.
It's tough to know what triggers your seasonal allergies. But, rest assured that HEPA is the best air purifier for allergies. It covers a wide range of common particles.
The AirMend 150HB, 200HB, and 270HB are designed, engineered, and assembled in our facility in Radford, Virginia. The Mod Jr. and Mod+ are designed and engineered in the USA and assembled in China. Every model on this page — regardless of where it's assembled — uses Oransi-designed components, is AHAM Verified for CADR, and is backed by US-based customer service.
